INT. MANSION BLOODY ROOM - NIGHT
SOFT WHITE GLOW AROUND MEGAN WITH CROWN.
Inside the BLOODY ROOM. The room has a DRESSER WITH BROKEN
MIRROR FRAGMENTS ON IT, a DISH WITH ASHES, a ROLL OF BURNED
SAGE and a SMALL BAG TIED WITH A STRING. There's a closet, a
messed up bed, and a footlocker at the foot of the bed near a
window. The WALLS ARE SPATTERED WITH DARK COLORED DRIED
BLOOD. Cautiously they enter the room. Brianna and May shine
their lights. Brianna is shooting night vision video with
her camera. She takes a close look at the blood stains on
the wall.
BRIANNA
Is that what I think that is on the
walls?
MAY
Bloodstains.
BRIANNA
I think I'm going to be sick.
Megan notices the broken glass from the mirror on the top of
the dresser and on the little white bag. She picks up the
sage from the dresser.
MEGAN
Sage again.
MAY
Someone tried to clean this room
too.
Megan inspects the dish with the ashes.
MEGAN
Incense.
May watches. Megan reaches for the little white cloth bag.
MAY
Don't touch that.
MEGAN
What is it?
MAY
It looks like a JuJu bag.
MEGAN
What's a JuJu bag?
MAY
Certain religions use them to keep
evil spirits away.
MEGAN
Like a good luck charm?
MAY
Yeah, I guess.
MEGAN
I don't think it worked.
Brianna looks at the IMPRINT OF A CROSS ON THE WALL above the
headboard of the bed.
BRIANNA
(pointing)
There used to be a cross on the
wall there.
Brianna sees large WOODEN CROSS laying on edge of bed. Megan
looks in the closet. Pulls a MILITARY SHIRT out. There is a
NAME TAG AND SET OF SILVER WINGS ALONG WITH NUMEROUS MEDALS
MEGAN
Check out the medals on this thing.
The girls read the name on the shirt.
BRIANNA
C-O-L Bates. Colonel Bates.
MAY
Mr. Bates was in the Air Force.
BRIANNA
1947 Air Force?
MAY
Yeah, the ring I found under the
sofa cushion had Roswell class of
1947 on it.
Megan eyes the JuJu bag.
MEGAN
Mr. Bates was trying to protect
himself from something.
MAY
What are you thinking, Megan?
MEGAN
(pointing at the JuJu bag)
Because I'll bet you this mirror
got broken the night he was killed.
And there's broken glass on top of
that bag.
BRIANNA
Yeah, and there's bloodstains on
the wooden cross too.
MAY
Meaning the JuJu bag and the cross
were here when Mr. Bates was
murdered.
BRIANNA
Meaning?
MEGAN
Meaning he wasn't trying to protect
himself from someone he was trying
to protect himself from some thing.
BRIANNA
This place really gives me the
creeps.
The three look at each other. Megan walks toward the door.
Brianna and May stand there for a moment then realize Megan
is leaving. They follow her out the door into the hallway.
Megan leads the way into the room across the hall.
INT. MANSION STUDY - NIGHT
SOFT WHITE GLOW AROUND MEGAN WITH CROWN.
There's an old wooden desk. Bookshelves against the walls
that still have most of the books on them. There's a few
BLACK AND WHITE PICTURES FROM ROSWELL A.F.B. hanging on the
walls. The girls see a photo on the wall behind the desk. The
picture is of SEVERAL AIR FORCE MEN STANDING IN FRONT OF THE
ENOLA GAY.
MEGAN
It's Colonel Bates.
MAY
In full military dress.
BRIANNA
That's the Enola Gay behind him.
MAY
What's that?
MEGAN
Don't you ever pay attention in
history class? That's the airplane
that dropped 'Little Boy' on
Hiroshima in August 1945.
Brianna spots a 1947 GRADUATION PICTURE OF A YOUNG MAN FROM
ROSWELL, NM HIGH SCHOOL.
BRIANNA
That explains the ring May found in
the sofa. Colonel Bates and his
family were based at Roswell, New
Mexico before they came here.
May and Brianna continue to look around the room. Megan
takes a seat at the desk, pulls out the top right hand
drawer, looks inside. Still wearing the crown, she sees
something about the BOTTOM OF THE DRAWER THAT DOESN'T LOOK
QUITE RIGHT. Pressing on the edge she finds a SECRET BOTTOM.
She lifts it up and there she finds A JOURNAL. She takes it
out and begins to read.
She flips a few pages then reads again, then turns to the
last entries of the journal and reads again. She looks up.
MEGAN
This was Colonel Bates' journal.
According to it this mansion
concealed a secret laboratory.
BRIANNA
Where did they hide it?
MEGAN
The basement.
Megan puts the journal back where she found it and closes the
drawer. She leads the way toward the basement door.
INT. MANSION - BASEMENT DOOR - NIGHT
SOFT WHITE GLOW AROUND MEGAN WITH CROWN.
Megan reaches for the door handle.
MAY
Megan, remember there could be
something down there.
Megan turns the door handle then pushes the door open with a
LOUD SQUEAKING SOUND. Before her is a flight of stairs
leading downward into the DARK BASEMENT. Megan starts down
the stairs. May and Brianna follow. Brianna shoots video.
INT. MANSION BASEMENT - NIGHT
SOFT WHITE GLOW AROUND MEGAN WITH CROWN.
The basement is a LARGE DARK SCARY PLACE with a long central
hallway and doors to rooms at either side. The girls move
out into the central hallway. Megan pushes a door open then
looks inside. It looks like a DOCTOR'S OFFICE. May and
Brianna look in. Megan moves to the next door, opens the
door, looks in. Exactly like the previous room. Brianna sees
a HOLE IN THE DOOR. She puts her finger into hole wondering
what made it. She shines her light on the nearby wall. She
sees SEVERAL CHUNKS KNOCKED OUT OF THE WALL and AT THE CORE A
ROUND HOLE. She shoots night vision video of holes.
BRIANNA
Bullet holes.
(tugs on May's arm, points
at holes)
Bullet holes.
Brianna and May's eyes widen. Megan goes the opposite
direction checking each of the rooms.
MAY
Ahhhh, Megan?
May and Brianna hurry to rejoin Megan.
MEGAN
I should have known by the look of
the anti-personnel fence around the
mansion that something was fishy
here.
MAY
Do you see any ghosts?
MEGAN
Nope.
Megan pauses at an open area, larger than the other rooms.
Two overturned wooden chairs lay on the floor. Two wood
frame walls lead up to a concrete wall at the back. She looks
at the floor and SEES WHERE SOMETHING FAIRLY LARGE HAD BEEN.
She kneels down and sees SCRATCH MARKS LEADING DIRECTLY
TOWARD THE BARE WALL. Brianna shoots video of the discovery.
MEGAN
Something was here. Something large
and round and it was dragged
directly toward the wall.
MAY
There's nothing there, Megan. No
door, just a wall.
Megan looks at the scratches at the base of the wall then at
the wall.
MEGAN
Looks like it was dragged right
through the wall.
Megan faces the wall then draws on the power of the crown
until SHE GLOWS BRIGHT WHITE. Brianna tugs on May's arm.
BRIANNA
What's she doing?
MAY
She's trying to see beyond the
wall.
BRIANNA
Oh, I knew that.
(shoots video of Megan)
MEGAN
(points at wall)
There's a large room behind this
wall.
Megan removes her crown. GLOW SUBSIDES BUT NOT COMPLETELY.
She exchanges the white for the blue crystal.
MAY
What are you doing, Megan?
MEGAN
We need to get on the other side of
this wall.
May looks around the room.
MAY
There must be a hidden switch here
somewhere.
MEGAN
Wouldn't matter, it wouldn't work.
There's no electricity.
Brianna slowly turns shooting video. The HOUSE GROANS then
SEEMS TO MOVE. The girls sway back and forth, becoming more
frightened. Suddenly Brianna freezes looking into her
viewfinder. There before her is A GLOWING MIST WITH A GLOWING
ORB NEAR THE TOP. She tugs on May's arm. May looks at
Brianna's viewfinder, sees the glowing image. Megan puts her
crown back on. LIGHT BLUE GLOW APPEARS AROUND HER. She turns
to see what May and Brianna are looking at.
MEGAN'S POV
Megan sees the GRUESOME MUTILATED GHOST of COLONEL BATES.
MEGAN
(gasping)
Oh my!
RETURN TO SCENE.
Megan takes May's hand. The BLUE GLOW MOVES OVER HER. May and
Brianna hold hands. The BLUE GLOW MOVES OVER BRIANNA. As it
does the image becomes visible to them all.
BRIANNA
(gasping)
I want to go home now... But I
can't move my feet!
MAY
(terrified)
Me either!
MEGAN
He's trying to tell us something.
The ghost looks at the girls then at the wall. They see his
MOUTH MOVING and the FAINT SOUND OF A VOICE CAN BE HEARD.
COL BATES
(softly)
Danger!
MAY
(frightened)
He's looking at the wall, Megan!
COL BATES
(softly, distorted)
Danger! Don't go! It lives beyond.
MEGAN
Danger? Don't go? It lives beyond?
Suddenly the HOUSE GROANS again then MOVES BACK AND FORTH
like a slow motion earthquake. The HIDDEN DOOR IN THE WALL
BEGINS TO OPEN. The girls are terrified.
MAY
I'm ready to go home now!
BRIANNA
Please, Megan. Let's get out of
here!
The HOUSE SHAKES and begins to make a BREATHING SOUND. The
door opens. The GHOST TRIES TO WARN THEM OF DANGER. Megan
looks and the door is nearly wide open. They now HEAR WHAT
SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE A DEEP HEARTBEAT.
MEGAN
Time to leave!
The BLUE GLOW around the girls BRIGHTENS THEN DIMS again.
MAY
What's wrong, Megan?
MEGAN
Something's wrong with the crown!
A STRONG FORCE SUCKS THE THREE THROUGH THE DOOR into the
hidden chamber. The girls stumble and fall upon crossing the
threshold of the doorway.
INT. HIDDEN UNDERGROUND ROOM
SOFT BLUE GLOW AROUND GIRLS
The girls lose their grip on each other. THE BLUE GLOW
SUBSIDES FROM MAY AND BRIANNA. Megan loses her crown in the
darkness. THE GLOW SUBSIDES FROM HER. May and Brianna
SCREAM. Brianna drops her flashlight, the bulb FLASHES then
goes out. She clutches her camera, rolling it up in her
shirt. They come to rest against A MOUND OF DIRT. The light
from May's flashlight dims. The light PULSATES then BECOMES
BRIGHTER.
MAY
(gasping)
What happened?
MEGAN
(finding her flashlight)
I don't know!
MAY
Where's your crown?
MEGAN
I don't know!
HEARTBEAT AND BREATHING SOUND SUBSIDE. Megan begins to shine
the light around the dirt covered concrete floor looking for
her crown. May hears whimpering sound coming from the
darkness to her left. She shines her light to find dirt
covered Brianna clutching her camera inside her shirt. Tears
drip from her cheeks.
BRIANNA
(weakly)
I saved my camera... But I lost my
flashlight... And I really want to
go home now.
Megan finds her crown.
MEGAN
Found it!
(picks it up)
Dirty now but it appears to be all
right.
(wiping dirt off.)
MAY
(frightened)
We need to get out of here, Megan.
Megan joins May and Brianna seated on a LARGE PILE OF DIRT
BLOCKING A TUNNEL. May shines her light around. She sees a
LARGE OLD GAS GENERATOR in one corner of the room.
MAY
Where are we?
MEGAN
Under the backyard I would guess.
Megan shines her light on the pile of dirt.
MEGAN
This was a cave in.
Megan looks at the walls at each side of the pile of dirt
then where the dirt touches the ceiling.
MEGAN
There's a tunnel behind this pile
of dirt.
HEARTBEAT AND BREATHING SOUND BEGIN TO INCREASE again. Megan
puts her crown back on her head. The BLUE GLOW MOVES OVER
HER.
MEGAN
Let's get out of here.
May and Brianna take Megan's hands. The BLUE GLOW MOVES OVER
THEM as the HEARTBEAT SOUND AND BREATHING BECOME MUCH LOUDER
now. The BLUE GLOW BRIGHTENS THEN BECOMES DIM again. SUDDENLY
THEY ARE PULLED DIRECTLY TOWARD THEN THROUGH THE PILE OF
DIRT. THE MALFUNCTIONING CROWN TRANSMITS THEM THROUGH THE
PILE OF DIRT.
INT. UNDERGROUND TUNNEL
PALE BLUE GLOW AROUND GIRLS.
BREATHING AND HEARTBEAT SOUND SUBSIDE again. The girls lie on
the dirt floor of the tunnel on the opposite side of the dirt
mound. They look around clutching each other tightly. Megan
is still wearing the crown but the BLUE GLOW IS VERY DIM.
Megan removes her crown. BLUE GLOW SUBSIDES.
MAY
What's wrong with the crown?
(looks at dirt pile)
That thing sucked us right through
that dirt.
MEGAN
I don't know. It's not working
right.
Megan notices a SMALL OPENING AT THE TOP OF THE MOUND OF
DIRT. She clips her crown to her belt.
MEGAN
Unless we get this crown to work we
are in serious trouble.
MAY
(looking into dark tunnel)
How about we try that way?
MEGAN
I don't think we have much choice.
INT. UNDERGROUND TUNNEL
The girls walk through the dark tunnel.
MAY
What's that smell?
Their lights hit something shiny ahead. It's a METALLIC GLOBE
SHAPED OBJECT 5-6' ACROSS and it's on the back of an OLD
MILITARY TRUCK. They approach. Brianna tugs on Megan's arm.
Points at TWO DEAD SOLDIERS on ground. SKELETONS INSIDE OF
UNIFORMS WITH RUSTED GUNS IN HAND.
MEGAN
What happened here?
MAY
It looks like they shot each other.
BRIANNA
I think I'm going to be sick.
Megan climbs up on the back of the truck taking a closer look
at the bright metal globe shaped object. May and Brianna
climb up and join Megan in the back of the truck.
MEGAN
It's a cage. They kept something in
this back at the lab. I remember
reading in the journal about some
kind of creature they kept in the
lab in a special cage.
MAY
Where did it come from?
BRIANNA
I know! It came from the Roswell
crash in July 1947. I remember now.
I saw it on a UFO TV special. A man
said a craft of unknown origin
crashed in the desert about 70
miles outside of Roswell, New
Mexico. There were five beings in
it, three dead and two were still
alive. They had a baby creature
with them. They said it drank blood
and had glowing red eyes.
MAY
An alien vampire creature?
MEGAN
It apparently got out.
Megan inspects the ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS TO THE CAGE to see
they lead to a GAS POWERED GENERATOR ON THE BACK OF THE
TRUCK.
MEGAN
Evidently they had the outside of
the cage electrified.
Megan jumps out of the back of the truck. Brianna notices a
LONG BOX ON THE BACK OF THE TRUCK AT THE FRONT OF THE BED.
May jumps out following Megan then Brianna follows. They walk
to the front of the truck where they find TWO MORE DEAD
SOLDIERS.
MAY
Do you think they were shooting at
the creature?
MEGAN
That would be my first guess.
(looks at Brianna)
Can you get some video of this?
Brianna tries but her camera flashes battery warning then
goes dead.
BRIANNA
The battery is dead. I just charged
it up before we went to the
mansion. It shouldn't be dead yet.
The HEARTBEAT SOUND BEGINS again coming from a crack in the
tunnel wall a few yards in front of the truck. The girls
look. Their FLASHLIGHTS DIM DOWN NEARLY GOING OUT before they
come back up again.
MAY
Megan? I think something down here
eats electricity.
MEGAN
Ahhhh, yeah. Girls, we need to
find some source of light that
doesn't need batteries or we are
going to be in the dark.
BRIANNA
We need torches! I saw a big tool
box in the back of the truck.
MEGAN
Go see what you can find. We'll
need a lighter, some rags and
something to burn.
MAY
I'll check the gas tank on the
truck.
MEGAN
I'll search these soldiers and see
if any of them have a match or
lighter on them.
The girls set out at their tasks. May gets the gas tank open
and sniffs it.
MAY
It's not gas, Megan. Smells like
diesel oil. Old diesel oil but it
might burn.
MEGAN
That's better yet.
MAY
What do I put it in?
Brianna, in back of truck, tosses an EMPTY NARROW NECK CAN to
May.
BRIANNA
Here, try this.
(finds some road flares)
I found flares too! And they have
strikers on the top!
Brianna finds a LENGTH OF SIPHON HOSE and SOME RAGS in the
box. Tosses them to May. She finds a GUN BELT WITH HOLSTER.
Brianna loops the gun belt around her neck. There's a LARGE
MILITARY KNIFE, a CANTEEN, a 45 AUTO CAL GUN HOLSTER and A
SINGLE HAND GRENADE on the belt. She puts some of the FLARES
into the holster.
Megan finds some WATERPROOF MATCHES in the cab of the truck.
Quickly the three siphon some fuel into the can, twist and
shove a rag in the top then light it. The HEARTBEAT AND
BREATHING SOUND BECOME LOUDER.
MAY
What are we going to do? That sound
is getting louder and it's coming
from that hole down there.
MEGAN
We are going to have to go back to
the pile of dirt and see if we can
dig our way out the top.
BRIANNA
What about...
(points on down the
tunnel)
MEGAN
I think that might be a bad idea.
It could go for miles in the dark
and then still be a dead end.
MAY
Do you think?
MEGAN
I think that cave in that sealed
this tunnel off at the house was
not an accident.
MAY
You think the other end might be
the same way?
MEGAN
(nods head)
Better go back and try to dig our
way out.
The girls begin to walk quickly back the way they came. The
HEARTBEAT AND BREATHING SOUND BECOME LOUDER. Looking behind
them they see a LARGE CLOUD OF PALE ORANGE AND GRAY COLORED
LIGHT moving toward them.
MAY
(frantic)
Something's after us!
The girls move faster nearly blowing out their torch light.
Their FLASHLIGHTS BEGIN TO FAIL AGAIN going dim and staying
dim. They slow down to a fast walk to keep the torch from
going out. Megan grabs her crown from her belt.
MEGAN
Brianna, light a flare and throw it
behind us.
Megan changes the blue jewel for the red one.
MAY
What are you thinking, Megan?
MEGAN
The red jewel is special. It
doesn't draw its power from the
same place the others do.
(looks at May)
And who ever is wearing it is
invincible.
MAY
OK, let's do that then.
BRIANNA STRIKES THE FLARE, SPARKS FLY, THE FLARE LIGHTS. She
throws it behind them. They move on further then finally
Megan stops. They all look back at the CLOUD LIKE THING
APPROACHING them.
MEGAN
(points at ground)
Put the torch here on the ground.
May puts the torch on the ground.
MEGAN
Everyone take a seat near it.
Megan sits down facing the torch. They take seats near the
torch then Megan puts the crown on. A SOFT RED GLOW MOVES
OVER HER.
MEGAN
Now take my hands.
The three clasp hands. The RED GLOW MOVES OVER THEM as THE
CLOUD ENGULFS THEM.
MAY
(yelling)
Payahhhhhhhhhh!
A GRAY MIST SURROUNDS THEM and EVERYTHING VANISHES INCLUDING
THE FLOOR.
INT. UNDERWORLD
SOFT RED GLOW AROUND GIRLS
The threesome are now seated holding hands in a place that is
dark and forboding. The SKY IS SHADES OF RED AND GRAY with
BLACK CLOUDS MOVING ACROSS IT. The GROUND LOOKS LIKE LAVA
FLOW WITH COLORS OF GRAY AND BLACK. In the distance they can
see what looks like SEVERAL SMOLDERING LAVA PITS.
MAY
(pointing)
There's Payah. He'll get us out of
here.
Megan glances to see a MAN (GIN) walking toward them from one
of the glowing pits.
MEGAN
Oh no. Listen, don't believe
anything you see here or anyone you
talk to.
MAY
Why? That's Payah. He can help us.
MEGAN
I'd be willing to bet that's not
who it appears to be.
BRIANNA
Why's that?
MEGAN
Because we are now in the
underworld. A world inhabited by
deceitful malicious beings who
don't care much for the living.
BRIANNA
(praying)
Oh please tell me we are still in
the tunnel. Oh please... Oh we are
all going to die right here, I just
know it!
The man (Gin) approaches.
MEGAN
What ever you do, do not turn loose
of my hands.
The evil GIN approaches looking just like Payah. He eyes
Megan's crown, an evil grin appears.
GIN
(in Payah's voice)
Hi, Megan. How about you and me go
for a little walk and I'll get you
guys out of here?
MEGAN
He's trying to split us up, girls.
Don't listen to him.
GIN
(Payah's voice)
Oh come on, Megan. You do want to
get out of here, don't you?
MEGAN
(looks at Gin)
It's kinda odd to see you without
your cotton candy.
GIN
Yes. I'll get some when we return
home.
The girls look at each other.
MAY
You're right. It's not Payah.
MEGAN
Told ya.
(looks at Gin)
You're not Payah, so who are you?
GIN
(Payah's voice)
Sure I am.
MEGAN
Where's your magic lamp?
GIN
(screaming, deep voice)
Ahhhhhhhh! Damn you, girl.
The EVIL GIN TRANSFORMS INTO HIS REAL FORM. A TOWERING BEING
ABOUT TEN FEET TALL WITH DARK RED SKIN AND HORNS THAT CURL
OUT OF HIS HEAD AROUND HIS POINTED EARS.
MAY
(frightened)
OK, that's really scary.
The Gin leans down near the red glow of Megan's crown and
looks at the girls.
GIN
(deep gruff voice)
Give me the crown!
The girls jump from the sudden outburst.
BRIANNA
(eyes closed)
There's no place like home. There's
no place like home. There's no
place like home.
May glances at Brianna. Megan glares at the Gin.
MEGAN
I know what you are. You might
just as well send us home, your
evilness, because you are not
getting this crown.
MAY
You know this guy?
MEGAN
This is an evil Gin who was
banished to the underworld with the
fallen angels many thousands of
years ago.
(looks at Gin, yells)
Because he was rotten to the core!
GIN
(furious)
Ahhhhhhhh!
The Gin strikes at the girls but HIS HAND HITS THE RED GLOW
of Megan's crown and BOUNCES BACK FLAMING. A SUDDEN BURST OF
RED ENERGY FLASHES OUT KNOCKING THE GIN SEVERAL YARDS AWAY.
MEGAN
See I told ya but ya wouldn't
listen.
The Gin gets up, looks at his SMOLDERING HAND, and begins to
pace back and forth.
GIN
Look, you just give me the crown
and I will send you back to the
surface world.
MEGAN
No. I don't believe you.
MAY
How do you know this guy, Megan?
MEGAN
Payah told me about him. This guy
wants the crown even though he
knows he can't even touch it
because he thinks that by having it
he can return to the surface world
and wreak havoc like he did before.
GIN
I will not release you until I get
that crown.
MEGAN
We'll see about that. Payah is more
powerful than you and he will get
us out of here.
GIN
(boasting)
Payah wishes he commanded the power
that I possess.
MEGAN
Yeah, right! That's why he's up
there and you're down here!
Suddenly the evil Gin screams and VANISHES IN A BURST OF
FIRE.
MAY
Wow, did you see that?
BRIANNA
What makes you think you can beat
him?
MEGAN
Do you remember how the breathing
and heartbeat sounds became loud
then the crown would fail?
May and Brianna glance at each other and nod.
MEGAN
Then there would be a short time
when the sounds were distant like
it was resting and then they became
loud again and the crown would
fail?
(the girls nod)
I'm betting it took everything the
evil Gin had to bring us here. All
we have to do is wait him out. He
can't keep us here much longer.
The sound of DISTANT SCREAMING INCREASES. The girls look for
the source of the sounds. An AREA GLOWS RED IN THE DISTANCE.
BRIANNA
What's that sound?
MAY
If I don't miss my guess that's the
sound of a multitude of lost
souls... Do you want to go see?
BRIANNA
No!
The girls see GRANDPA FRED (GIN) approaching.
MEGAN
Grandpa Fred?
GIN
(grandpa Fred's voice)
How are you girls today?
MAY
Well that answered that. It's not
your Grandpa Fred.
MEGAN
(sighs)
Nope, that's not what my Grandpa
Fred would have said.
Megan stares at the evil Gin. The RED JEWEL BEGINS TO GLOW
BRIGHT RED.
MEGAN
My Grandpa Fred isn't down here.
He's with God in heaven.
MAY
That's really sad when an evil Gin
as old as he is isn't smart enough
to fool three teenage girls.
The GIN TRANSFORMS TO HIS NATURAL FORM.
GIN
Ahhhhhhhh! Give me the crown or
I'll throw you into one of these
pits myself!
MEGAN
(boldly)
