INT. DOCK BUILDING 18 - NIGHT
Inside the small office Don Lowery stands in front of a beat
up office desk. An Arab man, ABDUL, is seated at the desk
playing with a hunting knife. JORDAN GILMORE stands at the
side of the desk. Lowery tosses the list onto the desk.
LOWERY
Boss said he wants the people
marked in red off their land this
week. The sooner the better... He
said if you can't persuade them to
leave then use what ever methods
are necessary.
Lowery pulls BUNDLE OF BILLS from a coat pocket and tosses it
on the desk.
LOWERY
Make it look like an accident...
Remember, you never saw me.
Lowery walks out the door. The man behind the desk jabs his
knife into the desktop. Picks up the list and looks at it.
ABDUL
You know the people on this list?
GILMORE
I know where they live... Would you
really kill them?
Abdul picks up the money and flips the end of the bills.
ABDUL
For this much money I would kill my
own mother. And I love my mother.
Abdul pulls 5 bills from the bundle, gives them to Gilmore.
ABDUL
You get us a car, something that
can't be traced back to us. And get
you some new clothes too. Something
so no one will recognize you.
Gilmore nods, takes the money and leaves. Abdul leans back in
the office chair, smiling, pleased with himself.
INT. MEGAN'S ROOM - NIGHT
SOFT WHITE GLOW AROUND MEGAN FOR CROWN EFFECT
Megan lying on her bed wearing crown. May leans back in her
chair. The WHITE GLOW BEGINS TO DISSIPATE FROM HER. Megan
continues to watch the men.
MAY
Where did he find these sewer rats?
MEGAN
Gilmore's a real low life but that
Abdul is a cold-blooded killer...
(watching)
Gilmore is driving off in a rusted
out puke green Ford Pinto. Can't
make out the plates, they're
covered in mud... Oh, there's
someone pulling up in an old black
Cadillac... Abdul is getting into
the car. They're leaving, May. Who
do I follow?
MAY
Stay with Abdul.
The FLOWING WHITE ENERGY MOVES ABRUPTLY OVER MEGAN.
MEGAN
Hang on. I have to stabilize myself
in the back...OK, got it. I'm in
the back of the car with these
crawlers.
INT. CADILLAC - NIGHT
Evil grin on his lips, Abdul hands five bills to the driver.
ABDUL
You could use some new clothes, my
friend.
DRIVER
(grinning)
I can always use some new clothes.
What did you get?
ABDUL
(patting shirt pocket)
I have a list of names. And I have
90 G's.
(sinister grin)
And the best part of all is Gilmore
will take the blame and we take a
vacation in Mexico.
(C.U.) LIST IN ABDUL'S POCKET
INT. MEGAN'S ROOM - NIGHT
SOFT WHITE GLOW AROUND MEGAN FOR CROWN EFFECT
Megan on bed using the crown to follow Abdul.
MEGAN
I'm going to try to levitate that
list.
May touches Megan's arm. WHITE GLOW MOVES OVER MAY.
MAY
Throw it out the window.
INT. CADILLAC - NIGHT
(C.U.) ABDUL'S POCKET AND LIST
The FOLDED LIST MOVES UP LITTLE BY LITTLE from his shirt
pocket. Suddenly THE LIST FLIES OUT THE WINDOW. Abdul sees
it. Tries to grab it but misses.
ABDUL
Stop the car! The list flew out the
window!
The other man swerves missing some traffic then slams on the
brakes.
EXT. STREET - NIGHT
Another car behind him nearly hits him. Abdul jumps out and
chases after the LIST AS IT FLIES APPARENTLY FLOATING on the
wind.
MEGAN'S VISION - SOFT WHITE BORDER AROUND IMAGE
Following the piece of paper down the street over a sidewalk.
A BOY tries to grab it but Megan quickly levitates it up out
of his reach.
MEGAN (O.S.)
I can't hold onto the thing. It
keeps slipping.
Abdul runs toward the flying paper.
MAY (O.S.)
Abdul is gaining!
MEGAN (O.S.)
I don't know what to do.
The boy stops chasing the paper.
MAY (O.S.)
At least that boy gave up.
MEGAN (O.S.)
I'm going into this alley with
it... Now up the side of the
building.
The PAPER FLOATS UP THE SIDE OF AN OLD BRICK BUILDING toward
the roof. Abdul rounds the corner, glances this way and that
then looks up and sees the paper going over the edge of the
roof. He spots a fire escape.
EXT. ROOFTOP - NIGHT
Megan moves the paper under loose tar-paper.
INT. MEGAN'S ROOM - NIGHT
SOFT WHITE GLOW AROUND MEGAN FOR CROWN EFFECT
Megan sits up on her bed, removes crown. GLOW SUBSIDES. She
exchanges white for blue transport jewel. PAYAH APPEARS,
EATING POPCORN, DRESSED IN PIN-STRIPED SUIT WEARING A HAT and
seated on the foot of Megan's bed. TV COMES ON. May jumps.
MAY
Darn you, Payah! You scared me!
May grabs one of Megan's pillows and whacks Payah with it.
MAY
What are you today? A 1920's
gangster?
Payah glances at May. Does not answer. Turns back to TV set.
Megan notices Payah.
MEGAN
I thought I smelled popcorn.
(looks at May)
Are you going with me?
Megan puts her crown on and BEGINS TO GLOW LIGHT BLUE. Megan
moves to the open area of her room. May joins her. They clasp
hands. The BLUE LIGHT ENGULFS THEM and THEY VANISH.
EXT. ROOFTOP - NIGHT
BLUE TRANSPORT LIGHT APPEARS BRINGING MEGAN AND MAY.
MEGAN, SOFT BLUE GLOW FOR CROWN EFFECT
Megan runs to get the list of names. May looks over the side
of the building. Sees Abdul climbing the fire escape.
MAY
Hurry up! He's coming up the
ladder!
Megan grabs the list.
MEGAN
Got it!
Megan grabs May's hand. THE BLUE LIGHT ENGULFS THEM.
MEGAN
Invisible mode!
SOFT TRANSLUCENT BLUE GLOW AROUND GIRLS FOR INVISIBLE EFFECT
Abdul reaches the top. The girls watch Abdul as they move
behind a small structure on the rooftop. The other man
clears the top of the ladder.
MEGAN
(whispering)
Now that other man's with him.
The girls watch the two men search the roof.
MAY
(whispering)
Do they look a little bit upset?
Megan notices the money Abdul put inside one of his other
pockets. She smiles.
MEGAN
Wait here.
Megan turns loose of May's hand causing MAY TO BECOME
VISIBLE. MEGAN'S TRANSLUCENT form moves toward Abdul. Megan
grabs the money from his pocket and throws it into the air.
Bills fly into the wind and over the edge of the roof.
ABDUL
NO! NO! NO!
The two men quickly grab bills from the air and roof. Some
bills fly over the side of the roof. TRANSLUCENT MEGAN
rejoins May and takes her hand. MAY BECOMES TRANSLUCENT BLUE.
INT. MEGAN'S ROOM - NIGHT
The BLUE LIGHT APPEARS BRINGING MEGAN with it. She removes
the crown then notices a bucket of popcorn on the floor
beside her bed. She looks at Payah who's lying on her bed
still watching TV.
MEGAN
I just realized you've been
transporting solid objects into the
room from the theater.
PAYAH
Yeah, I'm guilty.
Megan sits on the bed next to Payah. She takes a bite of the
popcorn.
MEGAN
You can transport solid things just
like I can using the crown... You
vanish when I need you, you appear
when I don't need you.
Payah looks at Megan.
PAYAH
I can see you have something on
your mind.
Megan looks at Payah for a moment.
MEGAN
Tell me about the crown and the
medallion. I want to know what it
was like back when you were on the
Earth thousands of years ago.
Payah smiles. He WAVES HIS HAND and TWO MORE PILLOWS APPEAR
next to him. Megan, surprised, eyes the two new pillows
then leans back on them.
PAYAH
It was more than ten thousand years
ago. There were some very wicked
people on the earth then. There
was war in the heavens where the
angels fought among themselves...
FADE OUT.
FADE IN:
INT. MAY'S ROOM - MORNING
May is brushing her hair. BLUE TRANSPORT LIGHT APPEARS WITH
MEGAN.
MEGAN
(excited)
Guess what! Mom left this morning
and we have the entire house to
ourselves.
MAY
Same here.
MEGAN
Great! Let's zap back to my house
and get to work.
May takes Megan's hand. The BLUE LIGHT FLOWS OVER THEM. THEY
VANISH from the room.
INT. MEGAN'S ROOM - MORNING
The BLUE TRANSPORT LIGHT APPEARS WITH MEGAN AND MAY. The door
is open and Brianna is standing in the room.
BRIANNA
(startled, frightened)
Ohhhhh --
Brianna faints. As she falls PAYAH, DRESSED LIKE A POLICE
OFFICER, APPEARS BEHIND Brianna catching her. He puts her on
Megan's bed then takes a seat in Megan's desk chair. Both
girls stare at Payah for an instant.
MAY
A policeman?
PAYAH
(grins)
Busted.
MEGAN
(distraught)
Great Caesar's ghost! Now what do
we do?
Megan tosses her crown on the foot of her bed. BLUE GLOW
SUBSIDES. Girls look at Brianna in shock.
MAY
She saw us, Megan. Our cover is
blown big time!
MEGAN
(flailing arms)
She hardly ever knocks!
May picks the crown up.
MAY
We hide this and make believe it
never happened.
Brianna opens her eyes and sees May holding the crown.
BRIANNA
What happened?
May and Megan freeze in stunned silence. May looks at the
crown in her hand knowing Brianna's looking right at it.
MAY
Um... All right you caught us.
We're superheroes.
Megan's mouth drops open.
BRIANNA
(excited)
I knew it!
Megan frowns at Brianna wondering what she meant. Payah is
seated at Megan's desk. May and Megan are the only two aware
of Payah.
PAYAH
(grinning)
I wouldn't miss this for anything.
Megan frowns at Payah then looks at Brianna.
MEGAN
Ahhhh --
PAYAH
Don't worry. She can't see me.
BRIANNA
What's going on?
MAY
Brianna, we're involved in a lot of
top secret stuff that no one's
suppose to know about.
Megan slaps her hand against her forehead.
MEGAN
Superheroes?
MAY
(reaching toward Megan)
Give me the white jewel, Megan. I
have to erase her brain now.
BRIANNA
(very concerned)
What? Erase my brain!
In stunned silence Megan hands the white jewel to May.
MAY
Sorry, Brianna. It's nothing
personal but we can't have you
leave here and tell the world who
we are.
May puts crown on her head. WHITE GLOW MOVES OVER MAY.
MAY
Wait! You said you knew about us?
(glances at Megan)
I guess I'll have to pump her brain
for information to see just how
much she knows.
BRIANNA
(frightened)
I don't know anything. I swear I
don't.
MAY
(determined)
I'll pump your brain for
information and if you're keeping
anything from me I'll find out!
Megan begins to see the humor in May's act.
MEGAN
(loudly)
Not on my bed your not!
MAY
(Megan)
Why not?
MEGAN
Because the last time you did that
to someone it ruined everything on
the bed. We never did get the
stains out.
Brianna's eyes are large as saucers as she glances back and
forth between Megan and May. Payah is amused.
BRIANNA
(frightened)
Look, I can join you. I'll even
sign a contract in my own blood if
I have to. Just please don't erase
my brain.
Megan smiles but turns to hide her face. May turns around so
Brianna can't see she's about to break out laughing.
MEGAN
Do we have any of those contracts
people sign in blood, May?
MAY
I don't know. I'll have to go
check.
May pulls crown from head. She hurries from the room closing
the door behind her. Megan starts for the door. Looks back,
points at Brianna.
MEGAN
You just stay put. If you leave,
you know we know where you live.
Megan looks at Payah. He appears amused. Megan goes out the
door closing it behind her. Brianna looks toward the desk.
INT. BATHROOM - MORNING
Megan finds May in the bathroom laughing uncontrollably. The
crown lays on the sink.
MAY
I can't help it. This is by far the
best prank we ever pulled on
Brianna.
MEGAN
(laughing)
I agree. There's just one problem.
MAY
What's that?
MEGAN
She saw us beam into that room and
she's going to want --
MAY
(laughing)
-- A contract to sign in blood! I
know, but I think we are fresh out
of them.
(slaps her lap)
MEGAN
(trying to stop laughing)
No, she's going to want an
explanation... Oh give me that!
(grabs crown from sink)
You're not to be trusted with this
thing. It's not for children!
MAY
(laughing, slapping her
legs)
Not for children!
Megan looks at May shakes her head then leaves the bathroom
closing the door behind her.
INT. HALLWAY - MORNING
Megan stops at her door. She sighs.
MEGAN
What am I going to do now?
INT. MEGAN'S ROOM - MORNING
Megan opens the door. Brianna is still on the bed.
BRIANNA
(pleading)
Please don't erase my brain. I
might need it someday.
MEGAN
(smiling, shakes head)
Brianna, we don't want to hurt you
but you're not the best at keeping
secrets.
(sits on bed next to
Brianna)
We can't have you running around
telling the world who we are.
Brianna makes a sad face.
BRIANNA
(pathetically)
I won't tell. I promise. If I join
you then I can't tell, right?
Because I would be part of the
secret.
MEGAN
(shaking head, somber)
We are dealing with some very bad
people right now. Some of them are
cold blooded killers.
(big sigh)
You might not want to get involved
in something like this.
BRIANNA
Killers?
MEGAN
Yeah. Real sleaze bags.
(pulls list from pocket)
That's a list of names of the
people on their hit list.
Brianna takes list from Megan.
BRIANNA
(eyes narrow, reading)
My Aunt Emma's on that list!
MEGAN
What?... Where?
Brianna points at the name and address.
MEGAN
She lives right across the street
from --
BRIANNA
-- Crazy Bob's pawnshop.
MEGAN
Evidently Banister wants your
aunt's land too.
BRIANNA
(pleading)
You can't let anything bad happen
to my Aunt Emma.
MEGAN
Nothing bad is going to happen to
anyone on that list if I can help
it.
BRIANNA
(eyeing the crown)
So can you fly?
MEGAN
(smiles)
Yeah. But mostly we just beam
ourselves from one place to
another.
BRIANNA
Bend steel with your bare hands?
MEGAN
I've never actually tried to do
that...
Megan looks around the room and spots a hairbrush on dresser.
MEGAN
Here, check this out...
Megan puts the crown on her head. WHITE GLOW MOVES OVER HER.
She points at the hairbrush.
MEGAN
Watch the hairbrush.
The HAIRBRUSH FLOATS ACROSS THE ROOM TO BRIANNA where she
takes hold of it. Payah watches. Door opens. May returns.
MEGAN
(May)
Feeling better?
MAY
It was a close one. Oh, and I
couldn't find any of those
contracts...
(sees serious look on
Megan's face)
What is it?
MEGAN
(holds list out)
Brianna's Aunt Emma is on the list.
MAY
(looks at paper)
No!
MEGAN
And we are running out of time.
BRIANNA
Where's your superhero costumes?
MAY
At the cleaners.
MEGAN
(shakes her head)
We don't have any.
May walks to the closet and pulls out one of the old dresses.
MAY
We do too.
BRIANNA
You're kidding?
Megan removes crown. WHITE GLOW SUBSIDES. She exchanges the
white jewel for the blue one. Holds the list out.
MEGAN
I viewed into the future. I found
out they intend to hit Bob's place
first. Now here's what we are
going to do...
FADE OUT.
FADE IN:
EXT. BEHIND BOB'S PAWNSHOP - NIGHT
Late at night behind Bob's pawnshop is a short clearing and
then a fence. Beyond the fence is a wooded area. At the edge
of the wooded area is a creek. Beyond the nearly dry creek is
another wooded area.
THE BLUE GLOW OF THE TRANSPORT APPEARS AT THE EDGE OF THE
CREEK BRINGING MEGAN, MAY, AND BRIANNA DRESSED IN BLACK.
Brianna is also wearing a BLACK PULL-OVER SKI MASK rolled up
on her head with BLACK HALLOWEEN MAKEUP ON HER FACE. In her
hand she has a RED GAS CAN FILLED WITH WATER. Megan quickly
removes the crown to STOP THE GLOW around her. Each of the
girls have a small Mag light in their hand.
MEGAN
Everyone knows what they have to
do, right?
BRIANNA
Hide in the bushes until the men
pass by...
(holds up red can)
The bad guys come through, cut a
hole in the fence. They put their
gas can down and when they are not
looking I switch the water with the
gas can.
MAY
I hide in the back of the shop and
wait for the men to enter. Then
when they are not looking, I lock
the door so they can't get out.
Megan puts her crown on. SOFT BLUE GLOW APPEARS OVER HER.
MEGAN
OK, you come with me.
Megan takes May's hand. SOFT BLUE GLOW MOVES OVER MAY.
Brianna watches as MEGAN AND MAY VANISH in the blue glow.
Brianna looks around the dark wooded area.
INT. BOB'S PAWNSHOP - BACK ROOM - NIGHT
The BLUE TRANSPORT LIGHT APPEARS BRINGING MEGAN AND MAY.
Megan removes crown and clips it onto her belt. GLOW
SUBSIDES. There are tall shelves with pawned items.
Passages between them lead from the front to the back.
MEGAN
Find a hiding spot.
Megan walks toward the front. She pauses to look at a LARGE
MOUNTED WOLF. May finds a hiding spot among some boxes under
a shelf near the back door.
INT. BOB'S PAWNSHOP - OFFICE - NIGHT
Megan slips through the door into Bob's office. Bob is
getting a cup of coffee but has his back to her.
MEGAN
Mr. Bob?
Bob jumps spilling coffee.
BOB
(gasping)
Lord a-mighty, girl! You nearly
caused an old man to have a heart
attack.
Bob sits in his desk chair to catch his breath. Megan
approaches. Bob notices the crown device on her belt.
BOB
That looks valuable.
Megan glances at the crown and smiles.
MEGAN
It's very old, and the only one
like it in the world...
(sighs, looks at Bob)
That's the thing that allows us to
travel through space and time.
Bob eyes the crown.
MEGAN
Those guys will be here soon.
BOB
Do you have a plan?
MEGAN
(nods)
Yes I do...
